Portland police arrest man on drug, reckless driving charges

PORTLAND, Tenn. – The Portland Police Department arrested a man on drug and reckless driving charges on May 15.
According to a social media post, PPD received a BOLO (Be on the Lookout) alert from the Robertson County Sheriff’s Office following a vehicle pursuit in which the operator fled a traffic stop.
PPD officers located a vehicle turning onto Gateview Drive. Officers say they pursued the vehicle but lost sight of it.
PPD says officers later located the vehicle and the driver walking in the parking lot of Gateview Elementary School.
The driver was identified as Michael Thomas Stroud.
Officers say that during an investigation of Stroud’s vehicle, they located an alcoholic beverage, a suspected THC vape pen, a suspected pipe to smoke methamphetamine, and suspected synthetic urine.
Officers say Stroud was driving on a revoked driver’s license.
Stroud was arrested and lodged at the Sumner County Jail.
He is charged with reckless endangerment with a vehicle, driving on a revoked license, unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia, falsification of drug test results, tampering with evidence, and financial responsibility law violations.
The investigation is ongoing.
