Operation Pride tree planting and giveaway

BOWLING GREEN, Ky.-Earlier this morning, 25 trees were planted and 110 trees were given away at Jennings Creek Elementary.

The tree planting and giveaway was sponsored by International Paper in partnership with the Arbor Day Foundation and Operation Pride.

Due to the December 11 tornadoes, thousands of trees were uprooted and destroyed.

Also some of the lives lost were children who attended Jennings Creek elementary. They hope these trees honor them.

“We’re planting I think 15 trees on the playground. And it’s really in remembrance of those kids that we lost,” said Operation Pride chairman Johnny Webb.

A few of the available trees included Pink Dogwood, October Glory Maple and Redbud.
