Ohio County man arrested following months-long theft investigation

HARTFORD, Ky. – An Ohio County man was arrested following a months-long theft investigation.
According to a social media post, the Ohio County Sheriff’s Office began investigating 71-year-old Phillip Hayes, of McHenry, in March 2026.
OSCO arrested Hayes on May 22 on an indictment warrant.
Hayes is charged with theft by unlawful taking or disposition of all others $1,000 < $10,000 and a first-degree persistent felony offender.
He was lodged at the Ohio County Detention Center.
The investigation is ongoing.
