Officials provide update on Barren River Lake water levels

BARREN RIVER LAKE – According to the Barren River Lake – US Army Corps of Engineers, Louisville District, droughts and below-average rainfall have caused lower-than-normal water levels.

Officials say Barren River Lake will remain open, and many recreational opportunities are available to visitors.

Visitors are asked to use extra caution when boating and to plan for launching.

The lake is “currently discharging at the minimum required discharge rate in accordance with the approved water control plan,” according to officials.
