Next Level Church to host Faith and Fitness 5K in Bowling Green
BOWLING GREEN, Ky. — Next Level Church is inviting the Bowling Green community to take part in its Faith and Fitness 5K Run and Walk Saturday at Preston Miller Park.
The event combines physical fitness, faith and fellowship while raising money to support the church’s BRIDGE Ministry, which stands for Bringing Restoration Into Divine Order With Great Expectation. Organizers say proceeds will help people in the community, including those experiencing homelessness.
“We’re hoping to gather the community for health and fitness,” said Myra Wardlow, the event’s coordinator. “Of course, we believe in the faith first and then fitness. Our bodies are a temple. We got to take care of them.”
The event is open to the public, and organizers encourage people of all fitness levels to participate, regardless of whether they attend Next Level Church or regularly compete in races.
A 5K run and walk will begin at 8 a.m. Saturday, followed by a half-mile race for children ages 5 to 12 at 9:15 a.m.
Registration costs $35 for adults and $5 for children. Participants will receive medals, with awards also available for age-group placers and overall winners.
“We invite everyone to come out,” said Diana Alexander, the event’s co-coordinator. “We want you to feel welcome. We will welcome you in no matter how much you’re able to do.”
Race packet pickup is scheduled for 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Next Level Church. A spaghetti dinner will also be available during that time, featuring both vegan and meat options. Dinner costs $5 for people who have not registered for the race.
Organizers say the event is designed to bring people together through fitness while supporting those in need throughout the community. You can find more information on the Next Level Church of BG facebook page.
