BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – The Milwaukee Brewers selected WKU RHP Gavin Perry in the 11th round of the 2026 MLB Draft on Sunday afternoon. Perry is the sixth Hilltopper to be drafted to the MLB in the Marc Rardin era at WKU.
By being picked 341st overall, Perry became the 64th Hilltopper to be selected into the MLB. He is the first Hilltopper to be selected by the Brewers since Matt Bowles was picked up as a free agent in 1995 and the first draftee by Milwaukee since Chris Petrocella was selected in the 37th round in 1992.
Perry spent two seasons with the Hilltopper Baseball Program and made 32 appearances and 25 starts on the mound. He logged a total of 112 strikeouts in his two seasons on The Hill.
He was a part of a 2025 campaign that proved to be one of the most successful seasons in program history, ultimately claiming the CUSA Tournament Championship and a berth in an NCAA Regional. During the 2025 season, Perry made 17 appearances and started in 10. He posted a 2.81 ERA and a 4-1 record, striking out 29 batters in 45.0 innings of work for an opponent batting average of .259.
A returner on the 2026 squad, Perry made 15 appearances, all of which were starts. He logged a 3.89 ERA in 85.2 innings of work. He compiled an 8-2 win/loss record and managed outings of 7.0 innings or more in four of his starts. Perry’s 2026 campaign was highlighted by a 7.0 inning, five hit shutout 11-0 win at Middle Tennessee on May 2, the first to toss a complete game shutout since Devyn Terbrak did so against South Dakota State on March 12, 2023.
In total, in the 2026 season, Perry compiled 83 strikeouts while allowing 37 runs (35 earned) and allowed just 19 walks and only four home runs against 329 total batters faced. The native of Oceanside, California recorded seven-plus strikeouts in four appearances, which included two with nine strikeouts each. He logged a 4.37 strikeout-to-walk ratio which was top five in the league and just outside the top 50 nationally.
Perry was named to the 2026 CUSA All-Tournament team for his performance in WKU’s first matchup against Middle Tennessee.
