Med Center Health reports lowest number of Covid patients

BOWLING GREEN, Ky.- A milestone for Med Center Health in Bowling Green-there are only four patients in their hospital with Covid-19.

A big difference from their highest number of Covid patients…86 just this past January.

Med Center Health’s Vice President of Ancillary Services Dennis Chaney says over the past 30-45 days, the number of Covid patients decreased as we saw the rate of community transmission slow. This low number today is due to vaccination efforts and natural immunity.

Two of the four patients are in critical care and the other two are in medical care. Chaney says it’s a sign of hope for the future.

“Hopefully this downward trend will continue and we’re looking forward to the day where we can report zero inpatients in the hospital and hopefully experience that for some time,” said Chaney.

Chaney also said according to literature, we are expected to have a lull in Covid cases this summer and fall, but there is potential to see an increase in cases later this calendar year. The CDC is recommending those ages 50 and older receive a 4th Covid booster.
