Med Center Health acquires state-of-the-art mobile MRI technology

RUSSELLVILLE, Ky. – Med Center Health is announcing the beginning of a new mobile MRI service for patients in the Albany, Caverna and Russellville communities.
The brand-new GE Voyager Mobile MRI unit will be shared among each of those communities on a rotational basis beginning on April 20, 2026, according to Med Center Health. The organization says the scanner has a wide bore, making it more spacious than many older systems currently in use.
Health officials say it reduces scan times by roughly 50% for most exam types while producing high-quality images.
Med Center Health hospitals at Albany, Caverna, and Russellville previously leased other mobile MRI units. This new $1.8 million investment will allow patients in all three of those communities to access state-of-the-art, patient-friendly MRI exams close to home.
According to Med Center Health, the MRI unit produces better image quality in less time.
“We are excited to bring state-of-the-art MRI scanning technology to our communities with a service offered directly by Med Center Health,” said Alan Alexander, vice president/administrator of The Medical Centers at Albany and Caverna. “This investment will help thousands of patients in the coming years improve their health by accessing the highest quality imaging results available anywhere. This service is very emblematic of our mission to care for people and improve the quality of life in the communities we serve.”
