Man charged with criminal trespassing and drug possession in Portland

PORTLAND, Tenn. – A man is charged with trespassing and drug possession, according to the Portland Police Department.

According to PDD, officers responded to a subject check on Wednesday. Officers made contact with Brian Wayne Groves at the scene.

Police say Groves previously trespassed on the property. Officers arrested Groves and located two suspected marijuana cigarettes inside his shirt pocket and suspected marijuana, suspected methamphetamine pills and five packages of suspected illegal Kratom inside a backpack.

Officers transported Groves to the Sumner County Jail. He is charged with criminal trespass, manufacture, delivery, sale, or possession of methamphetamine; possession of a Schedule VI controlled substance with intent to distribute and synthetic derivatives or analogues of methcathinone (kratom).

The investigation is ongoing.
