Man charged with attempted murder; one injured in shooting in Simpson County

FRANKLIN, Ky. – A man is facing charges related to attempted murder after one person was injured in a shooting Saturday in Simpson County.

On June 25 around 4:54 p.m., the Simpson County Sheriff’s Office responded to the Hickory Flat-Rapids Road and Rapids Road area to a shots fired complaint.

Authorities stated several callers said that a silver Chrysler and a gray Ford F-350 had been seen in an altercation and shots had been fired. Upon units’ arrival to the area, a Simpson County Sheriff’s Office deputy and a Franklin Police Department officer located Mitchell Rippy, 20, with a gunshot wound to the chest, according to the sheriff’s office.

Authorities stated life-saving measures were taken and Rippy was flown to TriStar Skyline Medical Center in Nashville, Tennessee, where he was last listed in stable condition.

After further investigation, Ronnie Morris, 54, was arrested and charged with one count of attempted murder and one count on wanton endangerment.

Morris was lodged in the Simpson County Detention Center and is being held on a $100,000 cash bond.
