Man arrested on assault charges

EDMONTON, Ky. – On Tuesday, March 22 around 3:45 p.m., the Metcalfe County Sheriff’s Office was notified of an assault complaint at Keltner Road, approximately eight miles northeast of Edmonton.

According to a social media post by MCSO, Matthew D. Elston, 34, and Diane L. Ford were at the location when a verbal altercation escalated into a physical altercation and Ford struck Elston in the back with an open hand. Elston responded by striking Ford in the jaw with a closed fist, causing serious physical injury, according to the post.

Elston was placed under arrested and charged with second-degree assault.

Elston was lodged in the Barren County Detention Center.

The investigation is ongoing.
