Man allegedly shot in chest in Clay County

MANCHESTER, Ky. – One man has been hospitalized after a reported shooting in Clay County, authorities say.
According to Trooper Scottie Pennington with the Kentucky State Police Post 11, troopers received a shots fired complaint on Saturday at a residence on Portersburg Road in Manchester.
Authorities say the caller stated a family member was at the home and threatening to harm them, followed by a series of gunshots.
Troopers say upon arrival, they located 23-year-old Jeremy Oliver of Manchester with a gunshot wound to the chest.
Authorities say they treated Oliver with a chest seal before turning him over to Clay County EMS, who continued treatment and transport to an area hospital.
According to troopers, Oliver was later transported to the University of Kentucky Albert B. Chandler Hospital for life-threatening injuries.
Authorities say a preliminary investigation determined Oliver went to the residence of family members while intoxicated and began a verbal argument that escalated. Troopers say during this time, Oliver was shot.
Authorities say the family attempted to transport Oliver to the hospital but were unsuccessful.
The investigation remains ongoing.
