Logan County Sheriff’s Office responds to multi-vehicle collision in Lewisburg

LEWISBURG, Ky. – The Logan County Sheriff’s Office responded to a collision Tuesday morning.
According to the Logan County Sheriff’s Office, around 5:47 a.m., deputies responded to the crash in the 9400 block of Lewisburg Road. The crash involved two vehicles.
Authorities say a preliminary investigation found 22-year-old Joshua Carver of Austin, Kentucky was driving a Volvo A30G pan grader northbound on Lewisburg Road. Trucks displaying flashing yellow lights were escorting the equipment at the front and back, deputies say.
During this time, authorities say a vehicle driven by 46-year-old Mark Pierce of Russellville made contact with the side of the pan grader.
Following that contact, deputies say Pierce lost control of his vehicle and entered the northbound lane, where his vehicle struck the front of the rear escort vehicle operated by 50-year-old Christopher Higgins of Russellville.
Carver was not injured, deputies say. Pierce was transported by ambulance to Russellville Medical Center and later transferred to Skyline Medical Center for treatment of his injuries. Higgins reported neck and back injuries and was transported to Greenview Hospital in Bowling Green.
The collision remains under investigation.
