Logan County Detention Center warns public of phone call payment scam

Scam Alert

LOGAN COUNTY, Ky. – The Logan County Detention Center (LCDC) is warning the public of a scam.

According to a social media post, LCDC is aware of a scam targeting family members of incarcerated individuals.

The scammers will call individuals posing as “Lieutenant Brown” working for LCDC. The scammers then tell victims that they can “secure the release of an incarcerated individual if a payment is made immediately over the telephone.”

Chief Deputy Michael Trimmer says LCDC does not contact individuals by phone for bond payments. Bond payments are only received in person at the detention center or the Logan County Justice Center.

Trimmer says potential victims should never provide personal and transaction information to scammers.

Individuals are asked to call local law enforcement if they believe they are a victim of the scam.
