FRANKFORT, Ky. – The Lock and Dam 5 boat ramp on the Green River is now open.

According to a release, the Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife Resources, with support from Warren County, restored the ramp that provides access for motorized watercraft and paddlecraft.

The ramp was closed when Lock and Dam 5 was removed in 2021.

KYFW says access to three ramps was cut off due to lower water levels after the dam’s removal. The new ramp is extended to meet the river at its lowest level, according to the release.

Motorized watercraft and paddecraft access will span 12 miles from Brownsville to the ramp.

The project includes a parking lot and roadway improvements.
