Local elementary school placed on lock-down after a student brought an air soft gun to school

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – A Bowling Green elementary school was placed on lock-down Monday morning after officials say a child brought an airsoft gun into the school.

When the student was confronted, the child ran from the building and was pursued by school and district administrators as well as law enforcement.

The incident was handled by the Bowling Green Police Department.

Parents received notice of the incident, which was followed up with a text message telling them to check their email or voicemail for the details before calling the school.

Warren County Public Schools Communications Director Morgan Watson said in statement to WNKY that the investigation ie being handled by local police.

“Warren County Public Schools officials are aware of an incident that took place this morning at Briarwood Elementary School. We have no information to suggest that other students were ever in danger. WCPS is actively working with the Bowling Green Police Department while an investigation is completed.”

After the lock-down was lifted, classes resumed as normal.
