Lawmakers share session updates at Bowling Green town hall

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. (WNKY) – State lawmakers met with community members Tuesday evening in Bowling Green to discuss the outcomes of this year’s Kentucky General Assembly during a legislative update hosted by Americans for Prosperity Kentucky.

The event, held at the Bosnian American Association, featured a panel of local legislators including Robert Duvall, Kevin Jackson, Michael Meredith, and Mike Wilson. The group spoke about key legislation, budget decisions, and policy priorities impacting South Central Kentucky following the 60-day session in Frankfort.

Heather Lemire said the event is part of a broader effort to connect residents with the legislative process and keep them informed.

“We’re a grassroots organization, and so we see it as our job to really bring the grassroots in with the legislators so that they can share what’s going on, because so many people are not paying attention, they’re not following the news,” Lemire said. “And so this is an opportunity for people to come out and have a meal and just learn what happened during session.”

Lawmakers addressed a range of topics, including the state budget and legislation that passed, as well as proposals that did not advance this session. The forum also allowed attendees to ask questions and voice concerns directly to those representing them in Frankfort.

“You know, I just think it’s always important when we can hear from the constituents and they can hear from us about the work that’s been done,” said Michael Meredith. “It was a long 60-day session working on a budget and a lot of other important issues for the state, and so getting that word out now and being able to answer some of those questions from the community, I think is always a good thing.”

Organizers say similar events are being held across the state as part of an ongoing effort to keep Kentuckians engaged and informed about state-level decisions.
