Law enforcement mourning loss of Monroe County sheriff

TOMPKINSVILLE, Ky. – Law enforcement across the state is mourning the loss of a sheriff.

According to the Monroe County Sheriff’s Department, Sheriff Dale “Frog” Ford passed away Friday evening.

The department released the following statement on Facebook:

Last night as you all may know our department suffered a great loss. Dale “FROG” Ford who had devoted much of his life to law enforcement and was currently serving as the Sheriff of Monroe County. Frog never met a stranger and was a friend to everyone. He went above and beyond on a daily basis to protect and serve our community and to help anyone who was In need no matter what the situation was. Not only was he the Sheriff, he was a mentor, a friend, a brother, but most importantly he was family. We are all devastated and heartbroken for the fact that he has passed on but we will always keep in memory of all the times that we have shared together. At this time we as a department would like to express our deepest condolences to the family as you all are in our thoughts and prayers. A funeral service will be held at Bartley & Sons Funeral Home at 1 pm on Wednesday, April 29.
