UPDATE: KSP conducting murder investigation in Olmstead

OLMSTEAD, Ky. – Kentucky State Police Trooper Daniel Priddy says KSP is in the process of a murder investigation in Logan County.

Priddy stated KSP was requested by the Logan County Sheriff’s Office to investigate a murder around 3 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 13 in the Olmstead community. Logan County deputies responded to the 600 Block of Kenny Stratton Road and found a dead male.

According to KSP, troopers and detectives responded to the scene and discovered through investigation that Joshua D. Burks, 20, of Clarksville, Tennessee, was shot by a person who fled the scene.

Burks was pronounced dead on scene by the Logan County Coroner’s Office, stated authorities.

KSP is asking anyone with any information or leads concerning the death of Burks to contact Detective Graham Rutherford with KSP Post 3 at 270-782-2010.

The investigation remains ongoing. No further information is available for release at this time.
