Kids on the Block hosts puppet camp

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – On July 21, the Kentucky chapter of Kids on the Block held a camp teaching kids how to construct and perform with a puppet.

The national organization known as “Kids on the Block” makes it their mission to teach children a multitude of things such as how to deal with child abuse at home, being bullied at school and how to accept people’s differences.

Amanda Guerra, a puppeteer at the non-profit, said that just this year, 39 children have come forward about being abused after watching the child abuse program that Kids on the Block performs. She attributed this to the fact that all the puppets are typically their age, being in sixth grade or younger, which can make the children feel more at ease when dealing with an unfortunate situation.
