JAMESTOWN, Ky. – A Russell County man has been found guilty of murder in his half-brother’s death.

According to the Kentucky State Police, on Friday, a jury found 21-year-old Lee Maynard of Russell Springs guilty of murder and tampering with physical evidence.

The jury recommended life in prison with the possibility of parole for the murder conviction, according to authorities. In addition, the agency says the jury recommended three years in prison for the other charge.

Authorities say the jury recommended that the sentences for each charge run concurrently, or at the same time.

According to troopers, the charges resulted after a death that happened on April 5, 2023 on Fox Lane in Jamestown. During the investigation, authorities say they learned Maynard had arrived at the residence of his half-brother, Charles Maynard, where the two became involved in an altercation that resulted in Charles Maynard’s death.

Final sentencing is scheduled for this July.

If sentenced to life in prison with the possibility of parole, authorities say Maynard would become eligible for parole after serving 20 years of his life sentence.
