NBA PLAYOFFS-SCHEDULE
Bucks sweep Heat…No 1s 76ers, Jazz win
UNDATED (AP) — The Milwaukee Bucks are the first team to advance in this year’s NBA playoffs.
They completed a four-game sweep with a 120-103 win over the Heat. Four Bucks scored at least 20 points against the team that knocked them out of last year’s postseason.
Brook Lopez was high scorer with 25 points, and Giannis Antetokounmpo (YAH’-nihs an-teh-toh-KOON’-poh) added 20 points, 12 rebounds and 15 assists. Bryn Forbes chipped in 22 points and Khris Middleton had 20 for the Bucks, who outscored Miami by 24 in the second half.
Bam Adebayo (ad-eh-BY’-oh) scored 20 points and grabbed 14 rebounds for Miami.
Joel Embiid (joh-EHL’ ehm-BEED’) set a career playoff high with 36 points as the 76ers cruised to a 132-103 win over the Wizards to take a 3-0 lead in the first-round series.
Embiid scored 25 points in the first half and finished 14 of 18 from the floor in 28 minutes before resting the entire fourth quarter.
Ben Simmons scored 14 and had nine assists for the Sixers, who shot 59% from the field and 52% from 3-point range.
Tobias Harris provided 20 points, 13 rebounds and five assists, and Danny Green made five 3-pointers to finish with 15.
Wizards guard Russell Westbrook had 26 points, 12 rebounds and 10 assists for the triple-double after being a game-time decision with a sprained right ankle,
The top-seeded 76ers will go for the sweep in Game 4 on Monday.
Utah has grabbed a 2-1 lead in its opening-round series with Memphis.
Donovan Mitchell scored 10 of his 29 points in the fourth quarter as the Jazz downed the Grizzlies, 121-111. Mike Conley matched his regular-season and playoff career highs with seven 3-pointers while delivering 27 points.
Rudy Gobert (goh-BEHR’) had 15 points and 14 rebounds for the Jazz, who have won two straight since dropping the series opener.
Ja (jah) Morant led Memphis with 28 points, and Dillon Brooks had 27 before fouling out.
Game 4 is Monday night in Memphis.
Portland has knotted its first-round series with Denver at two games apiece with a 115-95 rout of the Nuggets. Norman Powell made four 3-points and was 11 of 15 from the floor while matching his career playoff high of 29 points.
CJ McCollum added 21 points for the sixth-seeded Trail Blazers. McCollum and Powell carried the offensive lead while Damian Lillard was 1-for-10 from the field. Lillard fell two rebounds shy of a triple-double, netting 10 points and 10 assists before sitting out the fourth quarter.
Nuggets center Nikola Jokic (nih-KOH’-lah YOH’-kihch) also sat out the final period after the Blazers led by as many as 33. Jokic finished with a team-high 16 points and nine rebounds.
Game 5 is Tuesday in Denver.

Jaz shot-blocker Eaton dies at 64
UNDATED (AP) — The NBA shot-blocking king Mark Eaton has died. The Utah Jazz announced his death Saturday but did not give a cause.
The 7-foot-4 center twice won the NBA defensive player of the year award. He spent his entire career with the Jazz and led the league in blocks per game four times.
Eaton was 64 years old.
NHL PLAYOFFS-SCHEDULE
B’s win, Habs force Game 7
UNDATED (AP) — The Boston Bruins have opened their Stanley Cup second-round series with a win over the New York Islanders. Meanwhile, the Toronto Maple Leafs fail to close out their first-round series with Montreal.
David Pastrnak’s (PAHS’-tur-nahks) second career playoff hat trick carried the Bruins to a 5-2 win over the Islanders. Pastrnak completed his hat trick by scoring the insurance goal with under 4 ½ minutes to play.
Charlie McAvoy snapped a 2-2 deadlock 6:20 into the third period.
Tukka (TOO’-kah) Rask made 20 saves for the Bruins, who host Game 2 on Monday.
Ilya Sorokin (sah-ROH’-kihn) stopped 35 of 39 shots for the Islanders, and Jordan Eberle assisted on goals by Anthony Beauvillier (boh-VIH’-lee-ay) and Adam Pelech (PEH’-lehk).
Jesperi Kotkaniemi (yehs-PEHR’-ee kaht-kan-YEH’-mee) scored at 15:15 of overtime to give the Canadiens a 3-2 win over the Maple Leafs.
Montreal had been outshot, 13-1 in OT before Kotkaniemi tallied off a giveaway by defenseman Travis Dermott.
Neither team scored until the third period. Corey Perry and Tyler Toffoli (tah-FOH’-lee) lit the lamp for the Habs to make it 2-0, but Jason Spezza (SPEHT’-suh) answered before T.J. Brodie tied it with 3:11 left in regulation.
Carey Price stopped 41 shots for the Canadiens, who will head to Toronto for Game 7 on Monday.

Rays win again on Meadows’ hits
UNDATED (AP) — The Tampa Bay Rays have continued a hot streak that’s put them atop the American League East.
Austin Meadows’ third RBI of the afternoon was a tiebreaking, infield single during a two-run eighth in the Rays’ 14th win in 15 games, 5-3 over the Phillies. Meadows also hit a two-run homer in the first inning and now has 26 RBIs in his last 23 games.
The Rays rallied after Phillies starter Zack Wheeler allowed three runs on just four hits while striking out a career-high 14 over seven innings.
Phillies outfielder Roman Quinn left the game with a left Achilles injury, after stumbling while rounding third on a two-run double by Ronald Torreyes.
The two teams combined for 31 strikeouts, 16 by Tampa Bay batters.
Elsewhere around the majors:
— The Red Sox earned a 3-1 victory over the Marlins behind Nathan Eovaldi (eh-VAHL-dee), who went 5 1/3 scoreless innings. Bobby Dalbec, Kevin Plawecki and Hunter Renfroe each had an RBI single for Boston, which won for the seventh time in nine games and posted its ninth straight home victory over the Marlins.
— Spencer Turnbull pitched well into the sixth inning as the Tigers beat the Yankees, 6-1. Jonathan Schoop (skohp) was 2-for-3 with a solo homer and two runs scored to help Detroit beat New York for the second straight day.
— José Abreu drove in three as the White Sox knocked off the Orioles, 7-4 in Game 1 of a doubleheader. Jake Lamb and Yoán (yoh-AHN’) Moncada homered for Chicago.
— The Pale Hose picked up their fifth win in six games as Lance Lynn pitched five shutout innings in a 3-1 verdict over the Orioles in Game 2. Billy Hamilton hit a solo home run and Abreu (ah-BRAY’-oo) had a two-run blast as the White Sox handed Baltimore its 12th consecutive loss.
— The Twins were 6-5 winners over the Royals as rookie Trevor Larnach homered and Rob Refsnyder drove in two runs. J.A. Happ won for the first time in five starts, finishing five innings.
— Shohei Ohtani (SHOH’-hay oh-TAH’-nee) delivered a two-run single and Alex Cobb struck out eight over seven scoreless innings of the Angels’ 4-0 shutout of the Athletics. Los Angeles plated four unearned runs in the fifth following one of three wild pitches by Frankie Montas.
— J.P. Crawford and Mitch Haniger homered late as the Mariners sent the Rangers to their 11th consecutive road loss, 3-2. Texas managed four hits in its fifth consecutive defeat overall.
— Donovan Solano and Evan Longoria homered to support Logan Webb’s five innings of one-hit ball in the Giants’ 11-6 thumping of the Dodgers. Mike Yastrzemski (ya-STREHM’-skee) doubled twice and Wilmer Flores had three of San Francisco’s 16 hits after being reinstated from the injured list before the game.
— The Padres trailed 6-1 in the eighth inning before rallying for an 11-8 win over the Astros on Wil Myers’ three-run blast in the 12th inning. Fernando Tatis (tah-TEES’) Jr. launched a monstrous, three-run homer with two out in the ninth to tie it.
— Tyler O’Neill homered for the third straight game and added a two-run double as the Cardinals gave the Diamondbacks their 13th straight defeat, 7-4. Yadier (YAH’-dee-ehr) Molina also had three RBIs in the Redbirds’ third win in a row.
— The Cubs have a six-game winning streak after Joc Pederson, Ian Happ and Eric Sogard drove in two runs apiece in a 10-2 pounding of the Reds. Rafael Ortega homered and Kris Bryant had a run-scoring single, helping the Cubs improve to 18-7 this month.
— The Pirates took the opener of their twinbill as JT Brubaker scattered four hits over six innings of a 7-0 shutout of the Rockies. Bryan Reynolds hit his team-leading sixth homer, a two-run shot to right that pushed the lead to 5-0 in the fifth.
— The Bucs also blanked Colorado in the nightcap as Mitch Keller tossed two-hit ball over five innings of a 4-0 victory. Adam Frazier and Ka’ai Tom hit solo homers for Pittsburgh.
— Freddy Peralta went the distance for the first time in the majors, limiting the Nationals to four hits as the Brewers coasted to a 4-1 victory in Game 1 of a doubleheader. Avisaíl (av-ih-sah-EEL’) Garcia homered and drove in three runs.
— The Brewers came away with a sweep as Luis Urias went 3-for-3 with two RBIs in a 6-2 win at Washington. Kolten Wong also had three hits and drove in two runs for the Brewers in the nightcap, while Lorenzo Cain was 3 for 3 and scored twice.
— Taijuan (TY’-wahn) Walker worked five scoreless innings and the Mets belted a season-high five home runs in a 12-3 laugher over the Braves. Francisco Lindor (lihn-DOHR’), James McCann, Jonathan Villar (vee-AHR’) went deep for New York, and Brandon Drury and Billy McKinney piled on with homers during the Mets’ seven-run sixth.
— The Indians postponed their game with the Blue Jays due to high winds, forcing Cleveland to play doubleheaders on consecutive days.

MLB reaches 2 million total runs, Twins’ Donaldson scores it
UNDATED (AP) — Twins infielder Josh Donaldson scored baseball’s 2 millionth run on Saturday. The Elias Sports Bureau confirmed Donaldson hit the milestone mark.
The former AL MVP has scored 685 of those runs.
Baseball’s 1 millionth run was scored in the majors’ 100th season, when Bob Watson crossed the plate for the Astros in 1975. Donald’s historic run comes just 46 years later.

— Braves outfielder Marcell Ozuna (oh-ZOO’-nuh) was arrested Saturday on charges of aggravated assault strangulation and misdemeanor family violence. Ozuna was placed on the injured list Friday by the Braves with two dislocated fingers on his left hand. In the photo circulating of his apparent arrest, he’s wearing a bright yellow cast on his left hand.
— Rockies shortstop Trevor Story has been placed on the injured list due to inflammation in his right elbow. Story was taken out on Thursday in New York against the Mets after making a great throw in the second game of a doubleheader.
— Phillies catcher J.T. Realmuto (ree-al-MOO’-toh) was behind the plate on Saturday after being activated before their game against the Reds. Realmuto was placed on the IL on May 21 with a bruised hand.
— Cody Bellinger is back in the lineup for the Los Angeles Dodgers. The 2019 NL MVP had been out since April 5 due to a hairline fracture in his left leg.
— Cubs infielder David Bote (BOH’-tee) left Saturday’s game against Cincinnati after hurting his left shoulder on a slide. The Cubs have been hit hard by injuries this month, especially among their position players.

Spieth maintains lead
FORT WORTH, Texas (AP) — Jordan Spieth continues to hold a one-stroke lead over Jason Kokrak through three rounds at Colonial.
Spieth had his second consecutive round of 4-under 66 to get to 15 under at the Charles Schwab Challenge. His final drive Saturday landed in thick grass on an incline right of the No. 18 fairway. Spieth recovered with an approach to 8 feet before rolling in the birdie putt that gave him the solo lead again.
Sergio Garcia was alone in third at 10 under after a 68 with one bogey.
PGA TOUR CHAMPIONS-SENIOR PGA CHAMPIONSHIP
Stricker surges as Weir falters
TULSA, Okla. (AP) — Steve Stricker took advantage of Mike Weir’s back-nine collapse Saturday to take the lead into the final round of the Senior PGA Championship.
Stricker shot a 3-under 67 for a 6-under total that puts him one ahead of Alex Cejka (CHAY’-kah), who shot a 68.
Weir was 8 under until a double bogey on 12, starting a stretch of giving back five shots in five holes. He’s three back following a 74.
LPGA-MATCH PLAY
Semifinals set
NORTH LAS VEGAS, Nev. (AP) — Ally Ewing sank a 5-foot birdie putt on the par-5 18th hole to beat Danielle Kang 1 up and join three major champions in the LPGA Match Play semifinals.
Ewing will face Ariya Jutanugarn, a 5-and-4 winner over Minjee Lee on Sunday in the final event before the U.S. Women’s Open next week at Olympic in San Francisco.
Sophia Popov will play Shanshan Feng in Sunday’s other semifinal.
SOCCER-CHAMPIONS LEAGUE FINAL
PORTO, Portugal (AP) — Chelsea has won the Champions League title for the second time.
Kai Havertz’s first-half goal carried Chelsea to a 1-0 victory over Manchester City, the reigning Premier League champs. Manager Thomas Tuchel got his hands on the trophy a year after losing in the 2020 final with Paris Saint Germain.
The loss ends City’s bid for a rare Treble following a curious lineup decision by manager Pep Guardiola. He elected to go without a specialist holding midfielder in Fernandinho or Rodri, a major surprise that seemed to destabilize City.
Chelsea is the 13th team to win multiple Champions League crowns.
