Salas leads Women’s PGA and sees brighter days post-pandemic

JOHNS CREEK, Ga. (AP) — Lizette Salas was in her happy place, and not just because she was leading the KPMG Women’s PGA Championship. Sure, she was pleased with her 67 for the early two-shot lead at tough Atlanta Athletic Club. But this was about more than golf. Salas opened up about the mental struggles of getting through the COVID-19 pandemic. She says the time away caused feelings of anxiety and forced her to finally share her feelings with her team. Salas says she started to turn the corner last month, and believes she is finally headed in the right direction.
