Retiring Kentucky lawmaker scoffs at congressman’s criticism

FRANKFORT, Ky. (AP) — Kentucky state Sen. Paul Hornback says he won’t seek another term in 2022. But the veteran lawmaker is downplaying blistering criticism he received from a fellow Republican, U.S. Rep. Thomas Massie. Hornback is a prominent voice in Kentucky agriculture as a committee chairman. He was first elected to the state Senate in 2010. He says he had spent the past couple of months weighing whether to run for reelection and decided against it before the social media attack from Massie on gun issues and farm policy. Hornback says he wants to spend more time with his family and on the farm.
