No doubting Thomas: Harvard sprinter emerges as 200 favorite

EUGENE, Ore. (AP) —  Sprinter Gabby Thomas one day wants to work in health care. That’s why she studied neurobiology at Harvard and is currently working on her Masters in epidemiology/health care management at Texas. First, though, the Tokyo Olympics, where she will be a favorite in the 200 meters. The charismatic Thomas won the 200 at the U.S. Olympic track and field trials by clocking the third-fastest time in the event. That time was a big shock even to her. She had a health scare just before the trials when doctors found a tumor in her liver. Says Thomas: “Fortunately, they found out it was benign just a couple of days before I left. I remember telling God that if I am healthy, I am winning trials.”
