ANNAPOLIS, Md. (AP) — Survivors and relatives of the five people who died in a mass shooting at the Capital Gazette newspaper in Maryland have dedicated a memorial to them and the First Amendment. The dedication on Monday was made on the third anniversary of the attack on the paper. Several in a long list of speakers expressed concern about the newspaper’s future survival under new ownership. The memorial is titled “Guardians of the First Amendment.” It includes five pillars to represent the five lives lost in the shooting. The memorial also includes a rounded brick edifice, which holds a panel showing the First Amendment.
