Jin Young Ko wins on LPGA a week after losing No. 1 ranking

THE COLONY, Texas (AP) — One week after losing the No. 1 world ranking, Jin Young Ko is a winner again. The South Korean closed with a 69 to win the Volunteers of America Classic. It’s the eighth LPGA victory of her career, and her first this year. The one-shot victory over Matilda Castren comes one week after Nelly Korda won the Women’s PGA to replace Ko at No. 1. This victory wasn’t easy. Ko finished with seven straight pars. Castren was going for her second win in three weeks. She had a 25-foot birdie putt from off the 18th green that narrowly missed.
