Kentucky: 52 more virus deaths as younger people hit harder
FRANKFORT, Ky. (AP) — The coronavirus has claimed 52 more lives in Kentucky. Gov. Andy Beshear said Wednesday that the latest virus-related deaths in Kentucky included people as young as 34, 38 and 39. He says the virus is hitting younger people harder than at any other time during the pandemic. A 29-year-old teacher in eastern Kentucky who was fully vaccinated died after battling COVID-19. Her superintendent, Damian Johnson, says Joannie Bartley died Monday at Pikeville Medical Center. She was a middle school math teacher in the Jenkins Independent district. Johnson says she was a “wonderful person” and a role model to her students.
