Congaree puts its course, mission on display on PGA Tour

RIDGELAND, S.C. (AP) — The Congaree Golf Club will get its chance to shine this week when it hosts the Palmetto Championships, a relocated PGA Tour event after the planned RBC Canadian Open was called off for a second straight year due to COVID-19. The club is a Tom Fazio design in rural southern South Carolina, not far from more well-known layouts like the Ocean Course at Kiawah Island and Harbour Town Golf Links on Hilton Head Island. It was founded as much for championship golf as for its stated mission to help grow the game for young people who might not otherwise swing a club.
