More slipping, sliding at Wimbledon, even without any rain

WIMBLEDON, England (AP) — The All England Club says nothing is different about the grass this year at Wimbledon. But the slips kept coming Wednesday at the tournament. Players such as Serena Williams and Novak Djokovic have been falling during matches. Williams needed to pull out of Wimbledon after getting injured in the first set of her first-round match Tuesday. Roger Federer’s opponent also got hurt and had to stop playing. Both of those contests were played with the arena’s retractable roof shut because of rain. And that is what the All England Club blames for how slippery the surface has been. Djokovic tumbled several times Wednesday — when there was no rain.
