Carlisle takes over Pacers for 2nd time after leaving Mavs

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — The Indiana Pacers have hired Rick Carlisle as their new coach, marking his second stint in charge of the team. The announcement comes one week after Carlisle resigned after 13 seasons with the Dallas Mavericks. Carlisle was an assistant coach on Larry Bird’s staff during the three most successful seasons in Pacers history. He returned from 2003-07 after two seasons as the Detroit Pistons coach. Carlisle’s 836 career wins rank No. 15 all-time among coaches.
