A year late, Italy and Turkey play opening game at Euro 2020

ROME (AP) — Italy will play Turkey in the opening game of the European Championship on Friday. The Azzurri are aiming for the title while Turkey is aiming to spring a surprise. The biggest crowd to gather in Italy for a year and a half will witness the game. The Italian government decided that the Stadio Olimpico can be filled to 25% capacity. That amounts to a maximum of 15,948 spectators. The matchup also features some political undertones after Italian Premier Mario Draghi labeled Turkey President Recep Tayyip Erdogan a “dictator” in April. Italy enters on a 27-match unbeaten run.
