Human remains found after house fire in Bracken County

BROOKSVILLE, Ky. –  One person is dead after a house fire in Bracken County.

According to the Kentucky State Police, on Sunday, troopers were notified of a residential fire in the Brooksville community of Bracken County.

Troopers say while extinguishing a structure fire, firefighters located human remains in the residence.

Due to the condition of the remains, authorities say no identification is possible at this time. The Bracken County coroner pronounced the individual dead at 1:41 a.m.

An autopsy will be performed at the medical examiner’s office in Frankfort.

The case remains under investigation. Troopers were additionally assisted by Bracken County EMS, the Bracken County Sheriff’s Office and the Brooksville Fire Departments.
