CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – One person is in custody after a barricade incident ended peacefully in Clarksville, Tennessee Friday morning, authorities say.

According to a social media post by the Clarksville Police Department, one person is charged with aggravated domestic assault and was taken into custody at 4:33 a.m.

This follows after police say crisis negotiators spent hours throughout the night remaining in contact with the individual. Police say the individual surrendered peacefully without further incident.

The incident began Thursday night on the 500 block of Jewel Drive, according to police. Initial reports indicated a male subject was sending “threatening text messages suggesting a possible violent confrontation with law enforcement,” police say.

Officers say they initially responded to the residence at 7:11 p.m. Thursday, with crisis negotiators remaining on scene overnight.

The individual’s name has not been released by Clarksville police at this time.
