Hopkinsville police release statement on murder investigation, suspect has over 30 arrests

HOPKINSVILLE, Ky. – The Hopkinsville Police Department released a statement on its ongoing investigation of the murder of a Bowling Green man.

According to the Hopkinsville Police Department on Wednesday, 44-year-old Terrance Christian of Hopkinsville is charged with murder after the death of 34-year-old Clifford Barber of Bowling Green. On Tuesday, July 28, around 6:16 a.m., officers say they responded to a report of a dead individual in Little River near West Side Park.

Hopkinsville Police Chief Jason Newby released a statement Thursday in response to questions and concerns raised by the community.

In the statement, Newby states that Christian’s arrest is his 34th in the state. 27 of those arrests happened in Christian County.

Hello again, fellow citizens. As many of you know by now, I do not shy away from answering questions no matter how controversial the topic is. Questions/Concerns about the arrest of murder suspect Terrance Christian have been brought up, so I will address what I can. The Murder charge against Mr. Christian makes his 34th arrest. 27 of those arrests were here in Christian County. His charges stem from Drug Trafficking to Possession of a Handgun by a Convicted Felon and many others. Although we cannot prevent homicides from happening, I can assure you the Hopkinsville Police Department will always do our best to enforce ALL laws, Traffic and Criminal. Although our community has dealt with these homicides in recent months, I am very proud of the dedication from our Officers that have solved every one of them and arrested those responsible. My thoughts and prayers go out to the victims, their friends, families, and our entire community who mourns with them. We have your back Hopkinsville and we will continue to do all we can to serve and protect you.
