2 Smiths Grove residents indicted on Medicaid fraud charges

FRANKFORT, Ky. – Attorney General Russell Coleman announced six indictments for individuals who allegedly committed Medicaid fraud Tuesday.

According to a media release, 61-year-old Chester Meador and 59-year-old Starla Meader, both of Smiths Grove, were indicted on three counts of devising or engaging in a scheme to defraud the Kentucky Medical Assistance Program of $1,000 or more (Class D Felony) with a loss amount of more than $113,000 by a Warren County Grand Jury on Sept. 9.

Both were lodged at the Barren County Detention Center.

Additional indictments

On September 9, 2026, a Pike County Grand Jury indicted Delphia Taylor, 44, and Samantha Scott, 63, both of Mouthcard, for one count of Devising or Engaging in a Scheme to Defraud the Kentucky Medical Assistance Program of $1,000 or more (Class D Felony) with a loss amount of nearly $17,000.

On September 10, 2026, a Hardin County Grand Jury indicted Ricky Simpson, 49, of Elizabethtown and Shawna Smith, 45, of Hodgenville, for one count of Knowing Abuse or Neglect of an Adult (Class C Felony) and one count of Devising or Engaging in a Scheme to Defraud the Kentucky Medical Assistance Program of $1,000 or more (Class D Felony).

The Attorney General’s Office of Medicaid Fraud and Abuse Control is investigating all three cases.
