Hiker rescued after 10-foot fall at Red River Gorge

WOLFE COUNTY, Ky. – A hiker was rescued following a 10-foot fall at Red River Gorge, rescuers say.
According to the Wolfe County Search and Rescue Team, on Monday afternoon, the agency was requested to assist Powell County Search and Rescue for a mutual aid mission in Red River Gorge.
First responders say a female hiker was injured after falling approximately 10 feet at the Double Arch. Due to the location, a technical rope rescue was needed.
Rescuers say both search and rescue teams, along with Powell County Medical Services and Tri-Community Volunteer Fire Department, conducted several rope operations to safely remove the patient.
After reaching the trailhead, rescuers say she was transported by Powell County EMS for care.
Rescuers say the mission began around 12:30 p.m. and concluded around 4 p.m.
