Governor, White House order flags to half-staff to honor fallen firefighters

FRANKFORT, Ky. – Governor Andy Beshear ordered all state buildings to lower flags to half-staff on Sunday to honor fallen firefighters.

According to a release, the order is in accordance with the White House and Public Law 107-51.

The public law recognizes the National Fallen Firefighter Memorial Service that takes place in Emmitsburg, Maryland. The joint resolution of Congress approved the public law on October 16, 2021.

Gov. Beshear asks individuals, businesses and organizations across the state to participate.
