Glasgow Scottie Baseball Camp brings young players together for skills and fun
GLASGOW, Ky. — More than 50 young athletes took to the field Friday morning for the Glasgow Scottie Baseball Camp, a day focused on developing baseball skills while strengthening ties to the local program.
Campers worked alongside Glasgow High School players and coaches, learning the fundamentals of the game through drills and activities centered on hitting, fielding, throwing and base running.
While improving skills was a key focus of the camp, Glasgow head baseball coach, Camerin Garmon, said the event is about more than what happens on the field.
“I just think it’s important to give our youth in the community an opportunity to come out and work with our players, our coaches and kind of just build the community of baseball back up,” Garmon said.
Garmon say camps like this help young athletes build confidence, develop a love for the game and create connections with the Scottie baseball program at an early age.
The camp also gave participants the chance to interact with current Glasgow players, allowing younger athletes to learn from and look up to the next generation of Scotties.
Friday marked the final youth baseball camp of the summer at Glasgow High School. The next event will be a volleyball youth camp on June 8.
