Glasgow police conducting traffic safety checkpoints through August

GLASGOW, Ky. – The Glasgow Police Department is conducting traffic safety checkpoints starting Wednesday, Aug. 5 through the end of the month.

Police say the safety checkpoints will include but not limited to Columbia Avenue, West Main Street, North Jackson Highway and Happy Valley Road.

During the safety checkpoints, officers say they will be enforcing laws related to operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol/drugs, licensing of motor vehicles and operators, registration and insurance, seat belt and child restraint and motor vehicle equipment violations.

According to the department, checkpoints are used throughout Kentucky to help promote roadway safety.
