Girl Scouts practice teamwork, outdoor skills on weeklong trip

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – Canoeing, campfires and building confidence are what summer is all about for the Girl Scouts of Kentuckiana.

Girl Scouts K-12 are spending the week at the Houchens Program Center enjoying a variety of outdoor activities and practicing essential outdoor skills.

The girls have learned how to make their own rafts, cook outdoors and do so as a team.

Tonight, older campers will spend the night under the stars, thinking about all they have learned and accomplished this week.

“We hope they learn to love nature. We hope they learn to be more confident in their skills. We hope they leave here and say, ‘I know how to do this; I can do this; I don’t have to have someone else do it for me,” said Regina Pedigo, Houchens Day Camp Co-Director.

Girl Scouts of Kentuckiana has a variety of camps available for Girl Scouts to attend in various locations in the region. If you are interested in volunteering or if you know a girl who would love to be a Girl Scout, visit https://www.gskentuckiana.org/.
