Georgia-Pacific expanding locally, includes $100 million investment and 50 new jobs

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – Georgia-Pacific in Bowling Green is expanding its facility in the South Central Kentucky Industrial Park.

This involves a close to $100 million capital investment.

The $100 million investment will not only create 50 new jobs, but it will add an additional 80,000 square feet to the current facility.

Georgia-Pacific is one of the world’s leading makers of tissue, pulp, packaging and more.

They also create well-known household brands such as Dixie cups and Quilted Northern bath tissue.

Georgia-Pacific has operated in South Central Kentucky since 1992 with two locations in Kentucky.

Those include Bowling green and Lexington.

There are currently 150 people employed at the Industrial Park location.

Mayor Bruce Wilkerson had this to say about the expansion project:

“When you expand an existing business in a community it shows a lot about the faith that the organization has for Bowling Green and Warren County. What that means is that it becomes an easier selling point to additional manufacturing opportunities that come to Bowling Green.”

Georgia-Pacific has approximately 35,000 employees worldwide with nearly 200 locations globally.
