First salute dinner to female Veterans

BOWLING GREEN, Ky.-Calling all women Veterans! AMVETS Post 130 is holding their first salute dinner to female Veterans. 

The event is this Sunday from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at VFW Post 1298. 

Special speakers include Kentucky State Representative Patti Minter and former Lieutenant Governor of Kentucky and U.S. Air Force Veteran Jenean Hamptom. 

Veterans came up with the idea about three years ago, but Covid pushed their plans off. 

Gerald Mounce, Commander, says it’s important to highlight female veterans…sometimes they’re forgotten. 

“It’s just something that needs to be done, I think so they know we appreciate what they’ve done while on active duty and thank them for their service just like I [Veterans] did,” said Mounce. 

Food from Mission BBQ, which is a huge supporter of Veterans, will be provided.
