Firefighters battle vehicle fire in Clay County

MANCHESTER, Ky. – A vehicle is destroyed after it reportedly caught fire in Clay County.

According to a social media post by the City of Manchester Fire Department, at about 10:33 p.m. Thursday, firefighters were dispatched to South Highway 421 for a reported vehicle wreck with a vehicle on fire.

First responders say upon arrival, they found the vehicle fully engulfed in flames.

All occupants of the vehicle had already exited and fled before first responders’ arrival, according to the post.

Firefighters say they quickly began working to extinguish the fire, successfully putting out the flames. Personnel remained on scene to ensure the fire was completely out.

The fire department was assisted on scene by the Clay County Sheriff’s Office, Clay County EMS, the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet and Maggards Towing Recovery.
