Electric cars being built by companies on the rise

BOWLING GREEN,KY – Ford Motor Company is investing $5.8 billion to build a plant in Hardin County.

The plant will make batteries to power electric vehicles. Five thousand jobs are expected to be created.  Ford expects to start making batteries at the plant in four years.

Ford, like all other car manufacturing companies, is slowly shifting production away from gas to electric.

Car dealerships in Bowling Green are seeing a growing interest by consumers.

Jerry Gray, the sale manger at Toyota in Bowling Green said most new car customers at least ask about electric vehicle options.

He also said about 10 to 20% of their sales are hybrids.

That number is expected to keep climbing as electric charging stations are added to the region and as private companies make the switch with their business vehicles.
