Edmonson leaders change road barrier policies after toddler’s death
BROWNSVILLE, Ky. – In Edmonson County Fiscal Court, a decision will make roadblock barriers wider with flashing lights, rather than just covering one lane.
The upgrade comes after authorities say Alexandra Richardson drove around a barrier on Oak Hill Road and into high water, resulting in her toddler’s death.
The original proposition was for locked gates to be installed on the roads that often flood.
But, after a unanimous 6-0 vote, fiscal court agreed that modifying the current barriers would be better than installing gates.
Richardson’s arraignment on murder and multiple other charges is scheduled for Jan. 27.
