Don’t leave your pets in the car! New signs raise awareness
BOWLING GREEN, Ky.-Don’t let your furry friend suffer from the summer heat! There’s new signs posted around Bowling Green to remind you.
Animal control and protection officers have posted signs reminding people to not leave your pets in the car…even with the windows open.
If you see an animal in distress, call 911. Signs of distress include elevated breathing, panting, pacing, or no movement at all.
The signs are posted at Greenwood Mall and several parks where animal control officers receive the most calls.
“Unfortunately our animal control officers, on almost a daily basis this time of year, get called out for animals locked into vehicles and a lot of the times the animals don’t even survive because of the heat distress that they’re in,” said Code Compliance and Animal Protection Division Manager Brad Schargorodski.
This is especially important as we’re seeing temperatures near 100 degrees next week. If you’re a business owner and want to post these signs on your property, click here.
