Doctors urge importance of flu vaccines this season
BOWLING GREEN, Ky.- Norton Children’s Hospital is urging parents to have their kids get vaccinated against the flu before the end of the month.
The CDC has already found that the flu is spreading in parts of the United States. They recommend annual flu vaccines for children starting at 6 months of age and older.
While the past two flu seasons have had less cases compared to previous years, doctors are worried that they will be higher this year. In the past two years, more people wore masks and socially distanced due to Covid.
“We have had a couple mild flu seasons. And so I worry that some parents may have forgotten how bad flu can be in kids. This is predicted to be a particularly severe flu season,” said Dr. Kris Bryant of Norton Children’s Infectious Diseases.
Symptoms of the flu include fever, aches, chills, sore throat, runny nose and a headache.
