Deputies arrest 4 people after motorist finds toddler in the middle of the road
BROWNSVILLE, Ky. – Edmonson County Sheriff’s deputies arrested four people Wednesday after a passing motorist nearly struck a toddler wandering alone in the 19000 block of Louisville Road.
The toddler was in the middle of the road when a driver saw the child and called 911.
When deputies talked to the toddler’s mother Brittney Decker Houchin, 25, of Rocky Hill, she told them she was cleaning a trailer behind a home and had left the child in the care of Sherry Davis, 57, also of Rocky Hill, according to a release from the sheriff’s office.
That trailer was actually a camper in which deputies said they found suspected methamphetamine and a variety of drug paraphernalia, according to the release.
Houchin then told deputies she had been inside of a shed instead of a camper, according to the release. Inside the shed, deputies said they found suspected suboxone and a mirror with suspected drug residue on it.
Davis was inside the residence in front of the camper and told deputies she “didn’t know where they went” when deputies asked her about the 2-year-old child, according to the release.
Deputies searched Davis’ purses where they said they found suspected suboxone, clonazepam, gabapentin and a variety of suspected drug paraphernalia items, according to the release.
Deputies found Patrick Flannery, 19, of Rocky Hill, in a room where they also found suspected suboxone and paraphernalia. Another person found on the property, Jonathan Rogers, 22, of Auburn walked out of the woods while deputies were there and said he had previously been inside of the shed.
Deputies charged Davis with first-degree possession of controlled substance, first offense (methamphetamine); second-degree possession of a controlled Substance (drug unspecified); tampering with physical evidence and endangering the welfare of a minor.
