Dash for Sheldon gathers community to support Kentucky Kids on the Block

GLASGOW, Ky. – An annual event returned this past weekend in Glasgow to help support Kentucky Kids on the Block Inc.’s programs.

On Saturday, the 11th annual Workout Anytime Glasgow and Kosair for Kids Dash for Sheldon benefit run took place at Beaver Trail Park in Glasgow.

The event helps raise money for Kentucky Kids on the Block’s programs in Barren and Hart counties. The nonprofit helps teach local children acceptance of others and themselves through puppetry.

According to organizers, 126 kids and their families attended this year.

Each child received a free shirt, goody bag and medal, organizers say.

The nonprofit says awards were also given for the top five male and female dash finishers in the 1/2K, 2K and 3K.

Mascots included Gefferson the Giraffe from Service One Credit Union, Andy the Armadillo from Texas Roadhouse, McGruff the Crime Dog from South Central Kentucky Crime Stoppers, Pathfinder Southcentral Kentucky Community & Technical College and the cow from Chil-fil-A Glasgow.

Kentucky Kids on the Block says it is already excited to plan for Dash 2027.
